"There will be no surprise shows [at CES]," said Kim Hyun-suk, head of Samsung's visual display division, part of the consumer electronics division.
However, Kim said visitors can expect a Tizen TV to be on display at the trade show, but added that it hadn't been decided whether it would be the main attraction at the Samsung booth.
"We've said numerous times that people will get to meet a Tizen TV [that will be commercialized] next year," said Kim. "Everyone will get to see it."
Tizen, a Samsung-designed OS, has powered smartwatches such as the Gear 2 and Gear S. A Tizen-powered phone was postponed from being launched in Russia earlier this year, with rumors of an imminent India launch.
Samsung has stressed that Tizen was a cross-platform OS. Kim earlier this year told reporters at a trade show in Seoul that development of a TV powered by the OS has progressed significantly this year. He stressed that Tizen TV's biggest strength will be its open-source platform.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics co-CEO B.K. Yoon is expected to give a keynote speech at CES, and will likely talk up smart homes and the Internet of Things.
